Brace for one-way traffic in Jamia Nagar from tomorrow

Traffic jam is a major issue for Okha residents. Residents have talked about it for years but they have failed to find out a foolproof way to end traffic jam that now has turn out to be the order of the day.

early morning traffic jam leaves schoolchildren stranded

Once again the issue has come to fore with the local MLA Amanatullah Khan suggesting one way traffic from tomorrow to address the issue of easing congestion for the time being. He wrote on this timeline:”आज मेने ट्रेफिक इंस्पेक्टर के साथ जामिया से ओखला जाने वाले रोड का दौरा किया कल से इंशाल्लाह इस रोड को one way करदिया जाएगा जामिया से आने वाला ट्रेफिक बटला हाउस क़ब्रुस्तान होता हुआ अबुल फजल जाएगा और अबुलफजल से तिकोना पार्क होते हुए जामिया जाएगा।

Police officer Suhaib Ahmad Farooqui wrote this on his timeline: “Supervising the vehicular-traffic around Batla House and discussing the possibility of one way traffic movement in the area of Jamia Nagar with MLA Amanatullah Khan and Traffic Inspector/Sukhdev Vihar Ratan Lal Meena.”

And with Ramzan going on, residents do find it hard after getting stuck in jams. However, they have heaved a sigh of relief with police men manning the road during Iftaar.

It is important to point out that years ago this one-way was implemented but was overturned with residents of Johri Farm complaining of hardship.

A lot will depend whether the officials agree to the MLA’s plan.
