Mo Farah needs no introduction at least to those sports buffs, who were glued to their TV channels, during the Rio Olympics. . He is a four-time Olympic champion. But what happened to him during journey back from Rio forced London-based resident Munaf Zeena to write this on his timeline: “Black and great but nothing will change for other.”
According to a UK-based Telegraph report, Mo Farah was sent to back of queue while boarding flight home from Rio Olympics, his wife claims.
“This woman basically humiliated him until people came forward and said: ‘That’s Mo Farah, the Olympic champion…’ She was mortified afterwards, but had basically yelled at him like he was a piece of s— to get back into line. He was the only black person [in the queue] and hadn’t done anything to warrant it. I just knew she had a problem with him,” his wife told Sunday Telegraph exclusively.
A Delta Airlines spokesman said: “We are investigating this situation and will be working directly with the Farah family.”
However, it is understood that after another official intervened, they entered the flight where passengers applauded them.
OKHLATIMES.COM reports that the incident only highlights the bias in society. However, the good thing was that a unlike other instances where people of particular religion are victimized in this case other passengers appeared to have welcomed the family and the great athlete.
By winning medals at the Rio, Mo Farah has brought applause for the UK and should not have been forced to go through such a situation.
