If in the afternoon the locality was stumped by the report of a daring robbery in the locality with robbers allegedly firing when cornered in Shaheen Bagh another report has surfaced in which a Sudanese woman has alleged that she was raped by an unknown person near Jasola village.
The victim, 30, a national of south Sudan, came to India for treatment on October 6 last year and she had gone missing on February 6 and a complaint had been lodged in Sarita Vihar police station around 8 PM, police said.
A case has been registered under sections 376 (Punishment for rape) and 325 (Punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of IPC and investigation has been initiated in the case.
According to police, it was on Tuesday she was admitted to Apollo Hospital and she informed police that while she was roaming around Jasola village, a man told her that he knew the place where she was living and took her on his bicycle.
In her complaint to police she said that the unknown man took her to some lace and then he allegedly forced himself on her but she managed to beat him and run away. It was while escaping from his clutches, she met a man who lent her Rs 40 and this is how she got back to the hotel where she was staying, she told police.
A lady officer and counselor have been called to record her statement, said a senior police officer as reported by PTI. To know the exact place where the incident took place, police are looking for CCTV footage from the area.
