If a regular visit to Okhla, then you must have noticed that metro work is going on full speed. And if continues at this speed that reports have pointed out that trains will run on the route from August onwards.
Confirming this fact to HT, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation the trial run for Botanical Garden-Kalkaji corridor will start in the last week of July.
Following which it is understood that attention will be paid to seven new stations, including Okhla NSIC, Okhla Vihar, Sukhdev Vihar, Jamia Milia Islamia, Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh, Okhla Bird Sanctuary, that are expected to cut short your journey. Moreover, deprived Jamia Nagar will be connected with Delhi.
“It is a welcome move. For months residents have been waiting for the metro to get operational. Once it starts working it will save time of Jamia Nagar residents and also improve connectivity. It would be interesting to see how things shape up. However, business and eateries are going to benefit as coming in to Jamia Nagar would be made easy,” said Javed Iqbal Khan, Okhla resident.
Moreover, many officer goers and people don’t have to wait for long hours in scorching heat for buses and other commuting sources that they used to do earlier. Visiting Jamia Millia Islamia too will be made easy for many students who live on the other side of Delhi.
