There was traffic jam at Okhla Head at 5:45 pm on Tuesday after one way was back after Muharram, said daily commuters.
For days the one way was lifted with residents removing dividers at Okhla Head on the day of Muharram and since then Gramin Sevas and e-rickshaws were going straight to Batla House from Okhla Head avoiding to go to Tikona Park.
The move was welcomed by many Gramin Seva drivers who earlier had lamented that their business went down due to the route being made one way. Moreover, many daily commuters, who used to visit Batla House, from Shaheen Bagh or Abul Fazal Enclave, had to face hardship due to one way making them get down at Tikona Park and walk to Batla House or take e-rickshaw.
But this all changed in a late-night operation on Monday night when residents saw dividers being put by cranes to make traffic one way one more time. It is not known how long it will last, but the last time when it was implemented, many shopkeepers at Okhla Head had cried foul claiming that their businesses were down due to the new move.
Today there were policemen also seen at Okhla Head and near Tikona Park manning the traffic to make residents’ journey hassle free, said residents.
