A school boy who had turned up at Agra Canal near Kalindi Kunj with seven of his friends to swim got drowned. It has been reported that the 11-year-old boy, a student of a Government school in Sarita Vihar, disappeared while bathing.
Arjun’s friends panicked after seeing him getting drowned. They tried to save him. But it got too late as the body disappeared by the time they returned. TOI reported that police were doing all they could to find the body on Tuesday as the incident took place on Monday.
“Arjun’s friends and other witnesses said that he was the first one to jump into the canal. As soon as he went into deep waters, he slipped and started drowning. His friends rushed to get help and by the time they returned, Arjun could not be found. They then reported the matter to local residents who called up the police,” said a senior police officer, who had turned up on the spot with others after receiving a PCR call around 4:30 pm informing that a teenage boy had disappeared while bathing.
Officials from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, the fire department had reached the spot to start a rescue operation.
However, the boy’s family member could not reconcile with the incident. They suspect that something fishy did take place. It is another story that they are yet to file complaint. On the other hand, to get to the depth of the story, police have quizzed the boy’s friends too.
