The death of well-known cameraman Raghib Ameen, a resident of Okhla and alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia, is being mourned on the social media. While breaking the news, Nasir Sultan Qazi wrote: “Raghib Ameen was the brother of Atif Ameen who died in Batla House encounter. Raghib was camera man in Star News. And he is no more.”

Another resident Pervez Khan wrote: “My friend, my ex colleague in ABN News Raghib Ameen left us so early for heavenly abode. Raghib I can’t believe this..I will always miss you…the whole media industry will miss you. RIP.” He was suffering from cancer and lost the battle against the deadly disease.

He is to be buried at Batla House graveyard today, according to his friends.

On his timeline, it is mentioned that Raghib Ameen was working with NewsX. The impression among his fan and friends is that he left too early.

Batla House encounter took place on September 19, 2008 in which two alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) members Atif Ameem and Mohamed Sajid were killed. A police officer too had died in the shootout that had left residents rattled.

Since then residents and activists have been demanding judicial probe into the incident to get to the depth of the story and clear the confusion with some activists have claimed it to be a fake encounter. However, the Congress never acceded to activists’ demand by holding judicial probe.
