It was after four years of hard work by police that yielded positive results on Friday as they succeeded in arresting two prime accused involved in the infamous Park Street case in which five men had gangraped a mother of two on February 6, 2012 after offering to drop her home from a night club at city’s Park Street area.
Following the incident, the two men Kader Khan and his accomplice Ali Khan were in the hiding. But their luck ran out when they were nabbed from their hideout in Greater Noida. According to a PTI report it is known that they were arrested in a joint operation organised by Noida police and Kolkata Police on the same day when they returned from a birthday party in Jamia Nagar at around 12.45 am.
The duo were produced before the court, which remanded them to police custody till October 14.
“We got some inputs from our sources about Kader’s hideout in and around New Delhi and a few days back a special team was sent to the national capital. The team arrested Kader and Ali from their shelter during a raid around 1.10 am,” said Deputy Commissioner (South) of Kolkata Police, Murli Dhar as reported by the PTI.
Sensing the presence of cops they tried to flee but couldn’t. “They hid inside the water tank of the adjoining building but was spotted by one of our officers who caught them,” said police official.
The boy gave them shelter is from Darbhanga in Bihar, claimed report.
The court had sentenced them to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment.
