Okhla’s Owaisi warriors hold ‘emergency’ meeting after Shaheen Bagh ‘violence’

Members of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen of Asaduddin Owaisi organised more than 60-minute emergency meeting in Okhla hours after the October 16 Shaheen Bagh violence, in which activists alleged that they were beaten up by Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan’s supporters.

While speaking with OKHLATIMES.COM Amanatullah denied the allegation and said actually his supporter was manhandled.

What transpired in the meeting is yet not known, but reliable sources said former AAP member Irfan Ullah Khan, who recently joined AIMIM, addressed the meeting with other members too present.

Besides, in a Facebook live address to Okhla residents today, Khan, who also contested the Assembly elections as MLA on AAP ticket from Okhla but had lost to Congress Asif Md. Khan, mentioned about the Shaheen Bagh violence, urging local police to act tough against the people involved in the attack on activists.

An eyewitness to the incident, Ali told OKHLATIMES.COM that around 10 pm AAP workers attacked activist Syed Taseer and earlier manhandled Pervez Mohammad in the presence of the MLA. “They were carrying hockey sticks and knives. Syed Taseer is injured and bleeding. He has been taken for medical,” said Ali.

There was palpable tension in the locality after the incident with both parties making claims.

Till late night several people were seen stationed in and outside the Jamia Nagar police station. It is known that Taseer’s nose has been fractured.

Both Pervez and Taseer were once die-hard supporters of AAP and MLA Khan but fell apart on policy and other local development matters, according to sources.

The alleged attack on these activists took place hours after AIMIM members took out a rally in the locality opposing the proposed October 22 Mushaira called by MLA Khan at Jamia Millia Islamia to be attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arrvind Kejriwal and other senior party members.

Sharing the video of his leader Irfan Ullah on his timeline, ex-AAP member Afzal Ansari, who too has joined AIMIM now, wrote: “दिल्ली AIMIM के सदर जनाब इर्फानुल्लाह खान की तरफ से यह बयान। अगर अरविन्द केजरीवाल दिल्ली में हुई डेंगू औए चिकेन गुनिया से हुई मौत पर उनके घर वालो को 1 करोड़ मुआवज़ा नहीं दिया। तो हम 22 October को होने वाले मुशायरे में अरविन्द केजरीवाल का विरोध करेंगे।”
