Why is the whole area in front of Abul Fazal, including nallah and fruit market, covered with a white sheet? It was in the morning when residents going to their office saw the particular stretch on Abul Fazal Enclave road being covered with white sheet. Initially, many could not make it out the reason.
It was only later on it was known that the police station in the newly-built Abul Fazal Enclave is to be inaugurated by Delhi’s top cop: Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik, IPS. Then it dawned on many that the main reason to cover the dirt was to give an impression to the PC that everything in the locality is clean.
Residents on the condition of anonymity pointed out that behind the white curtain lay the illegal fruit market and cars parked illegally on roadside.
Encroachment in Jamia Nagar is a big issue with most of the roads being occupied by vendors and workshops. Moreover, it has been found that several eateries too have mushroomed on roadsides.
A few days ago local police launched a campaign in Batla House to remove roadside encroachment. But it appears that things are back to square one after some days. Residents lamented that several widened roads have been narrowed because of roadside encroachment.
