Some regular mosque visitors in Okhla heaved a sigh of relief after they came to know that a man who was giving them sleepless nights has been nabbed.
It all started a few days ago when leaflets were circulated in Jamia Nagar informing residents how a man has made things difficult for mosques by stealing batteries of inverters from there.
A leaflet released by members of Nabi mosque in Johri Farm in Hindi and Urdu claimed that a man has been stealing batteries of inverters from mosques. Also, the photo of the man was given. Two numbers were provided on the leaflet urging residents to identify him and share the information with the committee members.
“This man has stolen batteries from mosque Nabi in Johri Farm and mosque Moosa. In Noor Nagar,” stated the leaflet. A committee member said on the condition of anonymity that it was only on Sunday that were informed by officials that the man involved in stealing batteries has been apprehended from a locality in Jamia Nagar.
Sever incidents of stealing from mosques have surfaced. A few months ago this portal had carried a story pointing out that how some elements were stealing taps and other items from mosques to be sold at cheap rates. Moreover, many residents lamented that in some mosques shoes are stolen. In most of the case it has been found that the robbers are professionals.
Many cases have also surfaced of houses and shops being burgled during Friday prayer when most of the residents go to mosques to offer prayers. Several people have been arrested too in robbery incidents.
