Abdul Wasey, Editor-in-Chief of Media Pitch and resident of Abul Fazal Enclave is down with dengue for the last three days. He is not the only one to be suffering from deadly dengue as only a few days ago his teen son recovered from the disease that has inflicted several people in his lane, according to reliable sources.
Wasey, also an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia, has worked with several national and international publications, including Gulf Daily News, Emirates 24|7 and others. Also, he was Resident Editor at The Financial World, sister organisation of Tehelka.
Since the outbreak of dengue in Delhi a few days ago, several reports have surfaced of Okhla residents even dying of the disease. Moreover, several residents lamented to poor civic amenities, less fogging and de-silting in the locality earlier. Also, there are several people who strongly feel that untrammeled construction work in the locality has provided the right environment to breeding of mosquitoes, leading to alleged outbreak of mosquito-related diseases like dengue and chikungunya.
The situation is such that local hospitals are full with patients suffering high fever. What has set alarm bells is that majority of reported dengue deaths in Delhi has taken place in Okhla.
It was in the lane where Wasey resides that two dengue deaths have been reported. A source said several people in that lane are down with dengue as several building constructions are underway.
