Having recorded the most number of crimes against women in the national Capital, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in association with the Delhi Police is conducting free training classes on self-defence for girls of Jamia Nagar at Jamia Millia Islamia’s M. A. Khan Pataudi Sports Complex, reports Shubham Pandey.
These special classes were started on February 27 in corporation with the Central University which will continue for ten days taking place in the morning from 9 AM to 11 AM and would also organise a mega event on March 8 on the occasion of International Women’s Day with these trained students.
In these classes, the girls are given training and practice sessions to curb life threatening situations and self-protection by a trainer from Delhi Police in which girls from the nearby areas of Okhla and female students from various disciplines of Jamia are actively taking part in it. On asking about the response for these classes, the organiser informed that they will start another batch of girls in the next month for which they would open registrations shortly.
This is not for the first time that such training programme has been held in Jamia. Earlier too, the Delhi Police had organised such events for girls in Jamia and across the national Capital.
