‘Uncle’ do bad things to me: 8-yr-old Jamia Nagar girl tells teacher; know what happens after that

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 40-year-old man, a vendor, in Jamia Nagar, according to a resident. He said parents and people came to know about the incident when the girl narrated her ordeal to her teacher who informed her parents.

It was only after this that some residents and parents confronted the accused. “He was thrashed. But anyhow he managed to flee from the spot. Now he is untraceable. The girl told the teacher that the accused had been abusing her for long,” said the resident on the condition of anonymity.

Till the filing of the report, the girl is expected to be sent for medical test and her version has been noted down. The resident said the girl comes from financially weak background and the family has been living in the locality for the last 15 years.

The incident has left resident shocked. “My Gosh what is happening in this Muslim-dominated locality. Such beasts should not be spared. This only means that once a peaceful place this locality has gone to the dogs. The only lesson I got from this act is that be extra careful and keep eyes on your children,” said a mother of two on the condition of anonymity, adding that nobody wants to give name fearing reprisal from the devils.

A few weeks ago a girl was allegedly molested at Shaheen Bagh by a few youths and when she tried to fight back by threatening to call police, the goons barged into her house and beat up her mother. They only left the house after other local residents turned up. But before leaving, they threatened the girl of dire consequences if she opened up.

Besides, in one other incident that grabbed headlines, a schoolgirl was raped by her friends for days. The incident had taken place in Batla House with minors involved in it.
