Jamia Nagar family held hostage; flat looted

An incident of loot in a locality in Jamia Nagar at 10:30 pm has left residents stumped. This is what a resident wrote: “Robbers looted a house…they entered into the flat and held family members hostage…looted expensive items from the flat and made their way…a case has been filed.”

Another resident Maqsood Alam confirmed the development. The increasing cases of such incidents are a cause of worry for residents in Jamia Nagar. Many residents lamented in the last few years, the locality has witnessed increase in crime with safety of residents turning out to be a major issue.

Till now many residents had complained about robbery in the locality. A Zakir Nagar resident a few weeks ago had said how robbers target shops during Friday prayer with most of the residents going to mosques. A few months ago a report had surfaced about several shops being burgled in a night. Then also the robbers had fled away with money, according to residents.

Moreover, some residents have started raising the issue of their safety in a locality that a few years ago was termed safe with people moving around and shops being opened till late night.
