At about 8:30 pm a lot of people were seen hanging around Batla House graveyard. They were waiting for the arrival of the body of one Khursheeda, 55, from Abul Fazal Enclave, said eyewitnesses.
On being asked, a resident who requested not to be quoted said, the woman was suffering from dengue and died from disease related complications.
She was laid to rest in the graveyard. OKHLATIMES.COM could not independently confirm the report of the woman dying from dengue. However, this is not the first death in the locality from dengue. Though cases have come down, activists claimed that more than thirty people have died due to dengue, a claim that OKHLATIMES.COM is unable to authenticate. There is no doubt that several people died as this portal reported about three deaths due to dengue in F block of Abul Fazla Enclave. Moreover, a few days ago a Zakir Nagar girl died of dengue.
A large number of people are down with dengue, chikungunya and mysterious high fever with hospitals being full with patients. Zakir Nagar resident Fayaz Khan said he too is down with dengue. He got the deadly disease for the third time.
He said he saw several patients in critical conditions. Though fogging is going on in the locality many residents lamented that it started late and makes no sense now. The spread of vector-borne disease in the locality has been attributed to poor hygiene, piled up garbage on roadside and open nallah in AFE that is rarely delisted.
