AAP today announced first list of 109 candidates for MCD polls that is expected to go to poll in mid-April.
As expected tickets from Okhla’s ward number 100S and 1002S have gone to Mahmood Ahmad and Wajid Khan, both close aides of Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan.
This has been confirmed by AAP member Firoz to OT.COM.
A candidate who had applied for ticket and had attended a meeting at the MLA house had confided in OT.COM that the ticket from would go to these two people.
In its first list the AAP has released name of 109 candidates, which includes 49 women.
The list was finalised after being vetted by the party’s top decision-making body, Political Affairs Committee (PAC), headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
“The BJP and the Congress have indulged in corruption in civic bodies for the last 20 years. It is the time for the broom (the AAP symbol) to wipe out corruption from the MCDs,” said AAP Delhi Unit Convenor Dilip Pandey Pandey.
After coming to power in Delhi, the AAP is intending to wrest the civic agencies from the BJP that has been managing the MCDs all these years.
Swaraj India headed by Yogendra Yadav also announced second list of 30 candidates today.
