Okhla residents, also die-hard fans of AAP, took out an odd-even awareness rally in Okhla today, according to residents. The rally started from Batla House ended at Julaina where the importance of odd-even that is to be implemented from April 15 for fifteen days to curb increasing air pollution in Delhi by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government.
The rally was taken out under the leadership of Mahmood Ahmed, youth leader. It was a few months ago when the odd-even scheme was implemented with huge success as Delhiites cooperated with the government agencies in implementing it. It is understood that now the Government plans to make it a permanent feature for 15 days in a month. A final decision regarding this is yet to be taken.
Like the earlier odd-even scheme, this time around woman-only driver has been exempted. Moreover as schools will be open extra care has been taken to avoid any problem for parents or people carrying their children to school. In the phase II people carrying students in uniform are exempted from the scheme. Besides, a few VIPs, emergency vehicles and others too have been kept out of the scheme, according to sources. The information regarding the scheme was provided by Delhi CM at a press conference in the Delhi Secretariat on Saturday where a man had even hurled shoe at the CM that missed him.
