ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
“The silence has been broken. A protest initiated in June 2017 by the#Notinmyname campaign spread to 26 cities and towns across India. Thousands of Indians stood up to say NO to hatred and violence in the name of religion and caste. That was a moment of pause. Even the Prime Minister spoke up, briefly, but there has been no discernible follow up action. The lynching and assaults on Muslims, Dalits, Adivasis and other minorities have not stopped.
“We will now observe Sunday 10 September 2017 as a day to categorically#SayNoToHatred! In Delhi NCR a programme has been initiated to trigger 100+ events, protests, and actions. These will be spread across residential areas, on streets and important intersections, everywhere where people want to join in and say -Nafrat Ke Khilaf Dilli Ki Awaaz.
“This is a citizens’ campaign and the entire organising is through the effort of citizens of Delhi. Poets, artists, performers, musicians, story tellers, theatre practitioners of the city are gearing up to perform at Bawana, Meena Bazaar, Madanpur Khadar, Mangolpuri, Jamia Nagar, Khirkee, Basti Nizamuddin, Mandi House, Kathputli Colony, Vasant Kunj, Nizamuddin, R.K. Puram, Leisure Valley Park Gurgaon, Sikanderpur Gurgaon, Noida and many other locations,” said Bilal Zaid, journalist and campaigner and also the organizer.
