Nitish lines up galaxy of JDU stars for Sarwar in 102S Abul Fazal

Janata Dal (United) has lined up all its senior leaders in Delhi to secure seats in Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD). Given the fact that Ward Number 102S Abul Fazal Enclave has a sizeable population of Seemanchal voters, the Nitish Kumar-led party roped in its two lawmakers from the region to appeal for votes in favour of its candidate Sarwar Iqbal Khan.

JD(U)’s two legislators from the region Master Mujahid, who had defeated AIMIM leader Akhtarul Iman from Kochadhaman constituency in Bihar’s Kishanganj district, and Naushad Ahmad, former Minister in the Bihar Government, addressed people at D Block in Abul Fazal Enclave to seek votes for the party candidate.

“Your candidate is young and dynamic who has struggled for students’ rights at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). We have picked him from you so that your councillor can be accessible and you can hold him accountable. Therefore, don’t pay heed to the rumour mongers. Sarwar is the soldier of Nitish Kumar, who has a proven record of development. His candidature is clean like our chief minister,” Mujahid told the well-attended gathering.

He said his party is seeking votes only on the agenda of development. “When I was contesting the Bihar Assembly elections in 2015, there were efforts to polarise voters on religion and caste. But we sought votes on issues concerning people. We do not believe in divide and rule. Trust us: If you give us strength, we won’t let you down,” he said.

Nitish KumarIn his brief speech, Naushad Ahmad listed out his Government’s achievements and promised people that they will find their area clean and green within six months.

“Rising above all caste and region biases, please vote for a candidate who can serve you better. And we assure you Sarwar Iqbal is one such candidate. Give him strength, boost his moral and you will find a person as your representative who will always stand for your rights,” said Ahmad.

Sarwar Iqbal KhanHe said this election is not only a poll to elect new civic body, this will pave way for 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

“There is only one leader in the country who can really challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If you give him strength in your city, we will give you the best replacement,” he said.

Interestingly, the party is also re-introducing traditional way of street play to woo voters.
