The death of a 30-year-old cab driver near IIT flyover has sparked a debate in Okhla over rash driving. In the incident that took place last evening around 11 pm, a speeding car rammed into cab driver Nazrul’s car leading to his death, police said on Monday.
The driver of the speeding car, 24-year-old Shoaib Kohli has been arrested, they said.
Following the accident, Nazrul, a resident of West Bengal and was currently living in Gurgaon, was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead, a senior police official said.
After hitting Nazrul’s car, the accused had fled from the spot leaving behind his car that bore a Chandigarh registration number, said police, adding but he was later arrested. Talking about this accident many residents talked about rash driving in the locality that in the past led to deaths of a few people.
Residents still remember the accident of a passerby in Abul Fazal Enclave who was hit by a rogue biker. After being hit she fell on the divider and was rushed to a local hospital where she was brought dead.
Moreover, another road accident had taken place in Noor Nagar in which a woman who was driving a car rashly had hit a bus cleaner, who died on the spot.
