Meanwhile, the Delhi government has promised to develop 400 Chhath Puja ghats this year for offering of Chhatt Puja.
Minister of Development, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Gopal Rai reviewed the preparations for development of Chhath Puja Ghats in a meeting convened at Delhi Secretariat on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by the concerned MLAs, Councillors, Secretary, Revenue and senior officers of Flood Control Department. After the discussion, following decisions were taken:
As decided in the last meeting a combined list of Chhath Puja Ghats was compiled in consultation with Revenue Department and concerned MLA’s. An
Approximate 400 Chhath Puja Ghats have been identified out of which 50 Ghats are to be developed as permanent Ghats and on remaining Ghats temporary arrangements are to be made for Chhath Puja-2017.
The Revenue Department was directed to arrange for the tentage, lighting and fixing of CCTVs and Security e.t.c. on all the Puja Ghats, while rest work will be done by Department of Irrigation and Flood Control.
During the meeting Assembly wise list of Chhath Ghats were presented before the attendees. However, some MLA’s and Councillors proposed additional Ghats to be included in the list and it was directed by the Minister that all public representatives shall submit their list to I&FC Department by Tomorrow i.e. 22.09.2017 afternoon, after which the final compiled list shall be forwarded by Irrigation and Flood Control Department to Revenue Department for further necessary action.
The Minister informed all the attendees that this year festival of Chhath Puja shall be celebrated in Delhi in a grand manner and the Delhi Government shall take all necessary steps to make this event successful.
