Hardship for namazis on Friday due to overflowing sewer

On Friday a large number of people turn at mosque. And as usual many residents started arriving at a local mosque in Abul Fazal Enclave and faced hardship as a lane nearby one mosque in AFE was overflowing. Residents lamented that they had to be careful that their dress doesn’t get sullied from the overflowing sewer.

It is not known whether the water issue was addressed in the evening as some residents said that it existed in the afternoon after the prayer in the mosque was over. Residents from time to time have been complaining about poor civic amenities in the locality. And Friday being a special day in a week, residents do expect their streets or at least street close by mosque to be clean, free of water logging.

Some residents do claim that sanitation is a major issue in the locality. One can easily spot garbage piled up on roadside. In AFE, garbage being dumped in the open in front of a local hospital and school has been a major issue before election. Despite several efforts, the issue continues to be unresolved. During the build up to the local election, a youth had even sat on hunger strike for days, demanding end to dumping of garbage in the open that too on roadside.

The move then had failed to yield any positive results.
