Hundreds of people are expected to march at MHRD today for missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmad.
“Today’s protest at MHRD #JusticeForNajeeb. Press club of India to MHRD, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. At 2:00pm onwards,” said Syed Azharuddin National Secretary, SIO of India, which is headquartered in Okhla.
It is understood that people will gather in Dawat Nagar to move to the area. Since Najeeb went missing from JNU from the campus after an alleged brawl with ABVP members from October 15, 2016, his family members have been holding peaceful protests across the country to mount pressure on the Government to expedite hunt Najeeb mission.
However, till now the whereabouts of Najeeb continues to be a mystery. The Delhi Police has promised to pay Rs 10 lakh award to people providing information about Najeeb. Several posters were put up in Okhla also with little result.
A few days ago reports had surfaced that a Najeeb lookalike was detained. But after questioning he was released as he was not the missing Najeeb. Moreover, Najeeb’s family members have been travelling to several parts of the country like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to create awareness about the missing Najeeb campaign.
A few days ago, the family members were in Patna.
Also, a signature campaign was launched to drum up support. On Friday, several temporarily kiosks had surfaced outside mosques in Okhla attracting huge crowds.
