The recovery of a body of a 61-year-old woman from an open field in Jamia Nagar on Thursday had left residents stumped. The portal was the first to break the news. However, many residents who had turned up on the spot were not aware of the identity of the woman and were talking in hushed tones.
But now the body of the deceased has been identified as Vakila Beghum, a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave, according to a PTI report. It is understood that few hours before the body was found, the family had filed a missing complaint at Jamia Nagar police station.
Quoting a senior police officer, this is what the PTI wrote: “There were no injury marks on the body but parts of her body appeared to have been eaten by animals. The post-mortem report will help us ascertain the exact cause of death. She might have lost her way back home since she was old.”
Her family told police that she had left home to buy vegetables on November 16 but she didn’t returned. Her family claimed that she was wearing jewellery but it is missing now, said the report.
Residents were left shocked as such incidents are rare in the locality.
