Though the news of these Muslim IAS-IPS couple from Himachal Pradesh is not the top trend on the social media, their stories are doing rounds with major publications writing on their heartwarming gesture of offering to adopt martyr Paramjit Singh’s younger daughter.
It is to be mentioned here that it was on May 1 when Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh was killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector. The 42-year-old soldier was beheaded by Pakistani troops, according to IE report.
It has been reported that the Pakistani Army had killed two Indian soldiers on the LoC and mutilated their bodies.
Several dailies have reported that Yunus Khan, an IAS officer and his wife Anjum Ara, an IPS officer, have expressed their desire to look after their 12-year-old daughter Khushdeep Kaur. They have approached the martyr’s family.
“Khushdeep will continue to stay with her family. We will be paying for all her expenses and meeting her from time to time to know about her problems and solve them. If she wants to become an IAS or IPS officer or choose some other career, we are there to help,” the Times of India quoted Ara, Superintendent of Police of Solan district, as saying.
Also, Khan, who is Deputy Commissioner, Kullu, supported his wife and said: “We will be there for her throughout her life to help her in making decisions.”
The martyred subedar’s brother Ranjit Singh applauded the act. “I simply can’t express gratitude to these kind-hearted couple. It reminds me of what the Muslim ruler of Malerkotla, Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan, had done for the youngest sahibzadas (sons) of Guru Gobind Singh Ji,” he told the Hindustan Times.
