Mushawarat launches its flood relief drive for Bihar, Assam

All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat resolved today to provide all sorts of possible help to the flood victims of Bihar and Assam.

In a meeting chaired by Mr Navaid Hamid the president of the Mushawarat at its office in Jamia Nagar in New Delhi, a number of its members and associates decided to work on two lines. Firstly, to mobilize funds for essential relief to the affected people and secondly to ensure increased role of the concerning state governments and the central government for relief and rehabilitation in the devastated areas.

Commitment of a significant amount was made by the participants of the meeting itself. Further, the teams of the Mushawarat will be geared up in different cities for fund raising.

Moreover, the President of the AIMMM will write letters to the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers of Bihar and Assam to allocate as much amount as needed from their respective relief funds. Letters will also be written to the Home Minister and the Defense Minister for deployment of more teams of NDRF and if needed the personnel of army.

Mr Syed Tahseen Ahmad convenor and Mr Abdul Rashid Khan Rtd IAS have been nominated as co-convener of the drive, said A R Agwan.
