MP Girri meets Yogi for push to development work in Okhla

East Delhi MP & BJP National Secretary Maheish Giri held a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in relation with on-going pending works near the Delhi UP border in his constituency areas of East Delhi.

The parliamentarian said the Agra canal from Agra-Mathura passes through three Assembly constituencies of East Delhi and large areas of land in such areas belongs to the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department (“UPID”). Some important tasks related to UPID have been pending for long, as per the MP, such departments have been requested to act on pending projects several times without any substantive response. As a result, the work has been stalled since quite some time.

According to Girri, intervention is required for the construction of pucca road on the land of UPID from Aali village to Madanpur Khadar in Okhla Assembly area, since thousands of residents face problems for commuting.

Re-construction of two 100-year-old bridges and construction of additional bridge on Agra canal is also one of the important action items for development.

The metallic road that moves along with Agra Canal can also be widened to make it equipped to handle future traffic conditions.

Apart from the above mentioned issues, construction of flyovers and bridges on Agra Canal from Ghazipur to New Ashok Nagar and construction of park and playground in and around Jamia Nagar Police Station, near Okhla in the land belonging to UPID was also taken up.

Further, he requested for the construction of pucca Chathghats, in the vicinity of Agra canal in Ghazipur, New Ashok Nagar and Madanpur Khadar, since this area is mostly populated by families from Purvanchal.

Many people are being affected due to stalling of these tasks, he said, adding that the Chief Minister was requested to allot time to discuss all these tasks and he immediately agreed for the same so that the pace of development is not stalled.

The MP thanked Yogi Adityanath for this gesture.

Further, the Chief Minister acknowledged that these issues being important development works, such tasks shall be taken on priority by his Government.

Yogi admired that Girri travelled to Lucknow to bring these important projects to his notice.
