The National Secretary of BJP and East Delhi MP MaheishGirri had a meeting with the Mangu Singh, the Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, in the presence of senior officials of Delhi Transco Limited.
A few of the pertinent issues of East Delhi concerned with Delhi Metro Railway Corporation like construction of elevator in the foot overbridge situated in SaritaVihar Metro Station, construction of light metro corridor from Shashtri Park Metro to MayurVihar Phase 3, demolition of buildings and houses during the construction of metro in Trilokpuri and allied rehabilitation issues and proposal for constructing a new cut in Lane number 2 of West Arjun Nagar nearby Krishna Nagar Metro have been pending since a considerable time period.
The above issues were addressed in the meeting with Delhi Metro and DMRC was requested by the parliamentarian to act on the same via meeting and letters.
The MP said though the proposal for construction of elevators on the foot overbridge at SaritaVihar Metro station has been approved, the work was stalled owing to the low lying high tension wires.
He pointed out that, while the work of transferring high tension wires was supposed to be completed in July 2016, but the same has not been done yet. As a result of the absence of elevators, children, women and the elderly people are facing many problems.
From the past few years, though several requests have been made to the Metro for the construction of Light Metro Rail Corridors from Shashtri Park Metro Station to MayurVihar Phase 3, however, the situation has remained unchanged.
As per the MP, many houses in Block 15 were demolished during the construction of metro line in Trilokpuri and decision was taken for their effective displacement. However, the parliamentarian also noted that, no new residents could be displaced to the assigned area, since it was a green area. This caused many families to suffer from the problem of housing.
According to the MP, the other pending issue concerned the residents of West Arjun Nagar. As per the local residents, it is important to construct a new cut in lane number 2 of West Arjun Nagar for making the commutation easier to Krishna Nagar Metro Station. The absence of this cut in the road increases the travel time for the local residents to reach the Metro Station.
During the meeting, the MP apprised him of the importance of the above developmental activities and requested him to intervene into these matters and resolve them as soon as possible.
Mangu Singh said escalators would be installed over the foot overbridge situated in the SaritaVihar Metro by December 2017.
He further added that joint inspection would be conducted soon by the traffic police, P.W.D and officer bearers of Metro to build Krishna Nagar cut from the West Arjun Nagar, Lane no. 2 and remaining steps would be taken immediately.
