Mosque struggles to pay its power bill, makes appeal

Mosque struggles to pay its power bill, makes appeal.

A mosque in Okhla is struggling to pay its power bill worth around Rs 27,000. The announcement about this was made in Friday prayer by a member today. He said despite making announcement regarding donation to raise the required amount that the bill could be paid on time, the mosque has not been able to collect enough money from devotees who turn up every Friday for offering prayer.

He urged the residents to come forward to donate small amount like something between Rs 100 and 200 so that the required money is paid. The Charminar mosque in Abul Fazal Encalve has installed air conditions that are used during prayer time in summer.

It was a few years ago when Charminar mosque got a facelift with money being collected from devotees. This mosque also runs classes for residents who want to know and learn basics of Islam.

Moreover, it has been seen that many mosques in Okhla now have air conditions installed on the mosque premises.

Some mosques, like one located at Jamaat headquarters in Dawat Nagar, don’t have air condition. A mosque in Jamia Millia Islamia, also don’t have air conditions installed.
