Mosque helps missing baby unite with parents in Okhla

A missing baby spotted in Markaz a few minutes ago has been united with her parents, according to Inama Ur Rahman.

He said the girl was found in the Markaz crying. A few people tried to pacify her and on asking she gave her name as Namna, said Inam, adding that the first thing he did was to make an announcement from the Jamaat mosque about the missing baby.

Besides, activist Inam was quick to share the photo of the girl in some local WhatsApp groups urging residents to come forward and help the baby unite with the parents.

Later on he wrote that the baby has been united as the father turned up at the Markaz to take her small daughter.

This is not the only case as residents said whenever their children go missing or walk to far places in the locality the first thing they do is to approach the imam of the mosque, urging them to make an announcement through the public address system.

For many this is an age old tested practice. A resident said a few days she saw a mother looking for her toddler and when she could not locate her, she rushed to a nearby mosque urging the members to make announcement. And it worked with someone spotting the child and bringing him to that street where the mother was standing.
