Missing from the Jawahar Lal Nehru (JNU) campus for the last 24 days, Najeeb Ahmad has been spotted in Bihar’s Darbhanga.
This is what Najeeb’s mother was told when she with other family members and well-wishers had gone to meet Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung today at about 11 am, according to a close relative of Fatima Nafees.
The same claim was made by the L-G in an interview to a TV channel.
However, it is too early to jump to conclusion, said Nafees close family relatives, adding that the family will be only satisfied when the JNU student, who has gone missing from the JNU campus after November 15 after an alleged brawl with a group of right-wing student groups, will be found finally.
Reports have surfaced that SIT has been dispatched to the Dargah to trace him.
Also, Fatima met Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who assured her of his intervention to find out the youth.
The Home Minister gave a patient hearing to Najeeb’s mother and other family members and listened to all their grievances, official sources said.
“If police are not able to trace him, we will approach court and raise the issue in Parliament,” SP MP from Badaun Dharmendra Yadav who accompanied Najeeb’s family told reporters after the meeting.
Najeeb’s mother was detained on Sunday by police while attempting to take out a protest march to India Gate.
