Metro trial continues in Okhla, but when will service begin?

As Metro trial continues in Okhla, residents are asking one question: When will service begin? Officially there is confirmation about when the service will begin but if one goes by the ongoing work at Abul Fazal Enclave and Batla House then it appears that beginning of the service is not far away.

And as Delhi is busy with MCD elections, most probably residents are guessing that it might begin service months after the results are out most probably. With officials’ confirmation hard to come by, local residents are left only guessing on when service will begin.

Some residents said service might begin in a few months time.

It was only a few weeks ago, when a metro police station by the name Okhla Vihar was opened in Abul Fazal Enclave, inviting widespread condemnation. Many residents had then claimed to raise the issue during election time but nothing like this happening.

There are some who feel that there is nothing in the name. For such people what is more important is the beginning of the metro service at the earliest, linking the deprived locality with the rest of the national Capital, said a resident.

“People are just waiting for the beginning of the service in the locality,” said Noushu Ali.
