The Metro train services ran on single line for about four hours i.e, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm between Badarpur and Sarita Vihar section of Line – 6 today.
It was done to facilitate the scheduled track maintenance work on Up Line between Badarpur Border and Mohan Estate Metro stations, which has to be undertaken during day time only.
During this period, train services on Line-6 were run. For rest of the day, train services on the Line continued as per routine Sunday time table.
It was in May when metro trial run had begun and since then residents have been waiting for the completion work so that they could take the first ride on metro. It is understood that the operation of metro in Jamia Nagar, a deprived locality, will certainly link it to Delhi brining in prosperity to the locality.
Chances are that a few market areas in the locality like Batla House will see an increase of footfalls with business being revived further.
Moreover, the metro lines will also help ease Jamia students travelling woes. Students from far away areas can travel to the campus with ease saving their time. Now all eyes are on the day when the operation begins.
