When will metro in Shaheen Bagh become operational? Since the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) did a trial run on a 3.5-km stretch between the Kalindikunj depot and Okhla Vihar metro stations of the Magenta Line a few weeks ago, the residents in the locality have starting asking: When will metro in Shaheen Bagh become operational?
It is a difficult question to answer. However, metro watchers said usually three or six months after trial run metro starts operational. In many case it might exceed further. Though metro officials could not be approached for their comments on the issue, many are of the opinion that it might be operation by the end of the year or may go up to 2017. Works have going on fast in the locality to make sure to meet the deadline.
“This trial run is covering metro stations like Okhla and Jasola Vihar. This is being carried out at a low speed as the aim is to check the interface of the metro train. This helps to ensure that there is no physical infringement with civil infrastructure during the movement of the train on the track. Besides, testing of various sub-systems of coaches is also being carried out,” said a metro official as reported by The Hindu.
The real timetable can only be provided by the officials.
