Media, police come in large number

The media and police came in large number to Okhla today. Since morning they were found camping in the locality with most of the vehicles being parked at the back of Jamia Nagar police station after report surfaced of Okhla MLA Amanatuulah Khan surrendering before police today in a case of sexual harassment registered against him on a complaint by his sister-in-law that the MLA has vehemently denied.

Initially stationed at Jamia Nagar police station, the media moved to MLA Khan’s house in Batla House to take his side of the story. The MLA interacted with the media at his house from where he was arrested in another case by police a few weeks ago to be released later on. The MLA continued with his stand that he was being targeted.

A case under IPC sections 354A (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) was registered against Khan and the woman’s husband, an officer had said earlier as reported by several dailies.

“I and my wife have nothing to do with my brother-in-law’s wife for four years. She has framed me in wrong case. On Board’s land, a hotel has come up and that I raised this issue and registered complaint with ACB. I had also exposed financial irregularities of Rs 280 crore in the Board. I wanted to construct schools, hospitals on Board’s land. What is my fault? Why am I being framed? Because, I was the chairman of Waqf Board and exposing corruption in it one by one,” Khan had told reporters on Friday after tendering his resignation from all posts that has been rejected by AAP on Saturday.
