MCD polls: Ex-AMU leader Sarwar emerges as strong contender for JD(U) ticket from Okhla’s 102S

Sarwar Iqbal Khan is allegedly emerging as top contender for JD(U) ticket from Okhla’s 102S ward, according to a reliable party source.

“I assure people that if voted to power I will do development work in the locality that has been left neglected for years. Moreover, my focus will be on women safety and infrastructure,” Khan told OT.COM after getting the ticket.

Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) is to contest in the MCD polls and target Purvanchalis and people from Bihar living in Delhi and its unauthorised colonies.

The party is expected to release its fourth list of candidates tomorrow. It has been reported that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be in Delhi to address two rallies during campaigning for the polls next month.

“The first rally would be at Burari in north Delhi and the next would be at Khanpur in south Delhi. The Bihar model of prohibition and good governance piloted by Nitishji as the chief minister will add weight to the campaign,” a source told PTI.

There was stiff competition in Okhla to get JD(U) ticket with several people in the race. Till now, according to party insider, Khan has emerged as the top contender from the ward with huge population of people from Bihar and Purvanchal and his rise is to add new dimension in Okhla politics as he has a clean image and educated, said Khan’s fans.
