As the poll campaigning for the MCD elections 2017 came to end with elections being held on Sunday, now it’s time for party leaders and volunteers to take rest. With the guns falling silent, many are back in their camps. Some leaders are issuing releases thanking voters and volunteers to back them during the campaigning with the MCD elections 2017 results to be out on April 26.
Now the debate is who is going to win as candidates and their workers are busy in calculations of votes. And as the debate rages on WhatsApp groups a photo of a supporter of Sarwar Iqbal Khan is doing the rounds of WhatsApp group.
Plasma director Rizwan Khan said the volunteer got unwell and had to take water drip to gain some energy. Many spent hours campaigning for their candidates in the heat as temperature peaks.
“I am thankful to my campaigners and residents who stood by me. The volunteers, particularly Rizvi, were highly active on the ground,” said Sarwar Khan.
Overall the polling was peaceful across the city with many first timers exercising their franchise. In Okhla too many elderly turned up at booths despite heat wave and Sunday. Besides, some residents decided to stay home leading to a low turnout at some booths in the locality.
Moreover, security too was beefed up in the locality to make sure that no untoward incidents take place. Since morning volunteers were seen moving around booths to gauge residents’ mood.
