Preparations for MCD elections 2017 begin in Okhla

If you reside in Jamia Nagar, a deprived locality of Delhi, then you must have noticed an increase in activities by aspirants and politicians and everybody out of the blue have started talking about keeping the area clean and developing the locality.

Mind you many among them are people who were sleeping for the last four years.

All told, Jamia Nagar these days is witnessing a flurry of activities. If some are planting stories in unknown portals, there are many who are putting hoardings all around claiming to change the fate of the locality. They are all getting ready for MCD elections 2017. In many places small hoardings of incumbent have come up and some leaders have even picked up brooms to win hearts and minds of the voters.

It would be interesting to see whether, the educated would be taken for a ride like the past or will resist and go for right candidates.

“Election is coming and as the days get nearer the locality will see many new faces coming up claiming to be the real hamdard of the community. But it is unfortunate for Okhla that once in power nobody works and it is for all of us to see. The area continues to be neglected. Just see the piled up garbage on roadside, broken roads, lack of hospital, no quality schools and more. The real problem is that good people don’t take part in elections,” said a resident, requesting not to be named at a time when critics are being threatened and beaten up in public.
