Man shot dead in Okhla’s neighbourhood Jaitpur

A case of murder has taken place in Okhla’s neighbourhood Jaitpur. According report emanating from Jaitpur two unidentified men riding a motorbike shot dead a 32-year-old man this evening, said police.

The incident took place near Dalip’s house, said police, adding that after being informed about the incident the victim was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. PTI reported that four months ago Dalip had lost one of his arms in a road accident. After registering a case of murder, police is trying to identify and nab the accused.

Angry Jaitpur residents protested at local police station demanding arrest of the accused. Residents blocked the road for sometime to press their demand, according to eyewitnesses. Some Okhla residents even shared photos of the protest on their social media, soliciting comments over increase in crime in and around the locality.

In Okhla too cases of crimes have increased of late. A few weeks ago an Estate Officer of the NDMC was killed in Johri Farm by unidentified motorbike youths. M M Khan was attacked around 6:30 pm when he was returning from his office. Unlike many cases, police were able to crack this case within 24 hours by arresting the accused, including a few local youths and a four-star hotel owner.

Residents had then lamented at increasing cases of crime in the locality that a few months ago was very peaceful with goons having little say. And as the dust of that Khan’s murder was to settle another incident surfaced in Abul Fazal Enclave in which rouge biker killed a 40-year-old pedestrian in a rash driving case and then vanished.
