Some Okhla residents rally behind Anna Hazare, hold candle rally

Residents and shopkeepers of Sukhdev Vihar took out a candle rally from pocket A of the colony on August 21 at about 6 P.M. Poeple of all age group assembled at the pocket and then marched towards Friends’ Colony, Julena and Sujan hospital. The peaceful rally came to an end at Mathura road at about 8.30 PM. Also, residents gathered outside the house of local Congress leader Ashvini Kumar and Priyanka Vadera, raising pro-Anna Hazare slogan.

Activist Asha Arora, who organised the rally with the help of Dr Sonia Gulati and Art of Living, told OKHLA TIMES: “We will continue our protest till the government surrenders and accepts the demands being made by Anna Hazare and his team.”

Coincidentally, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also passed by as she was going to attend a Ramzan party being held at Batla House. She didn’t stop to talk to the protesters. Arora said: “We expected the chief minister to stop and have a word with us. But as she had more important things to attend she ignored us.”

Other Okhla youngsters also participated in the rally.

Md Faizan of Abul Fazal Enclave visited Ramlila Ground with his friends to support the cause of Anna. He said: “We need to turn up in huge numbers to support Anna and his men in their crusade against corruption.”
