Make sure to have your name in censusOT, 0 IST Okhla Times News Service Delhi residents have been asked to provide all information and render cooperation to enumerators and make the census successful. Setting an example, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit provided all relevant information to the officers who had turned up at her residence as part of the second and last phase of Census Operations. Further the CM also signed the enumeration sheet in presence of the Registrar General of India Dr. C. Chandramauli and Director Census Operations, Delhi Varsha Joshi. Speaking on this occasion Dikshit described the census as a vital exercise involving collection of information on demography, economic activity, literacy and education, amenities, languages, disability and many other social cultural aspects. Dikshit further stated that the Indian Census has been the most credible source of planning and other futuristic scheme. The first phase of Census named the House Listing and Housing Census was conducted from April to September, 2010. The second phase called the Population Enumeration is being conducted simultaneously all over the country including Delhi from 9th to 28th February, 2011. Around 30,000 enumerators in Delhi will be visiting each and every house to contact all families to have information on around 29 questions. Around 5000 supervisors have also been deployed to make this exercise smooth and purposeful. Every enumerator has been issued a badge, a photo I-card by the Census Office Delhi. This will facilitate in ascertaining information from people. In Delhi a Revision Round will be conducted between 1st and 5th March, 2011 to make additions and deletions to carry correction due to deaths and births taken place after 28th February, 2011. Director Census Operations in Delhi has operationalized a toll-free number 1800-345-0111 for providing information about Census Operations. People are free to contact this number in case no enumerator turns up on their place. As per Census Act 1945 the enumeration of each and every person is mandatory. It has been decided to bring awareness on importance of Census among common men. An awareness campaign by the disabled will be launched on Thursday i.e. 10th February, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Office of Registrar General, 2A Man Singh Road, New Delhi.
