Local MLA Khan case reaches LokayuktaOT, June 1, 2012 13:47 IST Okhla Times Reporter/Okhla The alleged illegal land possession case of Okhla MLA Asif Md Khan was heard in Lokayukta on May 31. MLA’s lawyer received a notice from the Lokayukta that is looking into the case after the Delhi High Court last month had pulled up the DDA and other officials for failing to take action against Khan for allegedly acquiring a land at Kalindi Kunj proposed for graveyard. Lawyer Kamran Mallick, who was present in the court, said now an enquiry will be set up to find out whether MLA Khan misused his position by forcefully acquiring the land on which his swanky office is located at Abul Fazal Enclave, near Kalindi Kunj. The Delhi HC had acted following a PIL filed by a local resident seeking action against the MLA for allegedly acquiring lands. Besides, the resident, who is also a political activist, had distributed pamphlets a few months ago in the locality, claiming to expose the MLA. However, MLA Khan told OKHLA TIMES that he has not done anything wrong. “These are mere allegations,” he said, adding that a hearing had taken place yesterday. But last month reports had surfaced in many national dailies about how the MLA had illegally occupied the DDA land. Lawyer Kamran, a JMI alumnus, claimed some 5,000 bigha is left vacant there and in future may be used for graveyard. The locality has only one graveyard in Batla House and the one opposite it is left unused. Moreover, MLA Khan was also in the news for keeping exotic birds in his lush green premise at AFE.
