Imposters are collecting money for Ramadan in Abul Fazal Enclave. Two men in police clothes have been spotted going from door to door to collect money. To convince residents they even carry a register. A housewife Firdous, resident of G block, contributed Rs 200. It was only later that she could realize that the money had gone into the wrong hands. But by that it was too late as they left the area. They were only exposed when a resident tried to find out more about them. When confronted they said they were part of Bahrupia community.
Another resident Ishrat Jahan said she too was confused when they knocked at her door at around 11:30 AM. They visit the flats at a time when most of the men are out on duty. This is not one off incident. The two men in their 40s with medium height have been visiting the locality for the last one year.
As they have not been involved in any fraud many residents have not taken notice of their presence. Also, they move comfortably mostly in their fake police uniform. Jahan said for the first time I took them for police. “This time too I was about to pay them but it was my relative who could find out they were not the real people by quizzing them.”
