Imam of Haram to get rapturous welcome from JEIH membersOT, 0 IST Okhla Times Reporter/Abul Fazal Enclave
It is 7.45 P.M on March 25 and work is going as usual at the headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in Okhla. Security guards are walking up the road. A few workers are busy erecting temporary shelters outside the mosque. The whole campus has been washed by water. All these preparations are being done for the Imam of Grand Haram Sharif in Makkah Shaikh Abdur Rahman Al-Sudais, who is to visit the campus on March 26. Many people are involved in the work to make sure that nothing goes wrong. It is during this time that a police gypsy pulls up outside the mosque. Four cops, including one lady officer and a traffic cop, steps out of the vehicle. They are carrying notebooks. The cops interact with security guards who are mostly illiterate. They want to know about the visitors and other preparations. Later on senior JEIH employees invite them to the reception where they are briefed about the preparation. It is expected that some 5,000 people will turn up to attend the Zuhar prayer that is going to be lead by the Imam of Haram at 1.05 P.M. Ejaz Ahmed Aslam said: “We want to make sure that everything is perfect. We also informed the police so that they could make sure that the Imam is not struck in the traffic jam.” On his first visit to India, the Imam is also expected to visit Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith and India Islamic Cultural Centre on the same day. The Imam is the guest of Maulana Arshad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (Arshad faction). In Delhi he is expected to participate in the Azmat-e-Sahaba Conference on March 26 at Ram Lila Maidan, New Delhi. The Imam will be staying at the JEIH campus for an hour. At 12.15 P.M. he will inaugurate extension of SIO headquarters building, according to senior JEIH official. After that he is expected to visit JEIH headquarters that is just a few minute walk from the building. The main function begins at 12.45 P.M. when he will deliver a message to the congregation that is planning to turn up. Separate arrangements for women have been made. At 1.05 P.M. the Imam will lead the Zuhar prayer and at 1.15 P.M make dua. After that he will leave the campus for other destination. The Imam, who arrived in Indian on March 25, will be accompanied by Saudi delegation also.
