A nationally-acclaimed NGO, Human Welfare Foundation, organized an Iftar party for rickshaw pullers and labourers on August 24 in Milli Model School, Abul Fazal Enclave.

Some 300 local rickshaw pullers and labourers turned up at the party. After the Iftar, they had a sumptuous dinner. Also, the HWF distributed Iftar Kit, including kurta and pajama, to the participants so that they could wear the new clothes on Eid.

Salimullah Khan, national coordinator of HWF, said the NGO aims at eradicating poverty in the locality. The Iftar party was held under HWF vision 2016. The HWF has been holding such events for long in other parts of the country. Last year the HWF had also distributed gifts to impoverished rickshaw pullers in Delhi and other states of India.

Mohd. Rafeek, treasurer of HWF, addressed the participants. He exhorted them to take care of their health. Besides, rickshaw pullers were also urged to stay clean. The interaction was two sided as rickshaw pullers too asked questions regarding faith and education. The rickshaw pullers were also told to give proper education to their children.

Social activist Mohd. Ejaz Ahmad Aslam and journalist Arshad Bastavi were also present on the occasion.
