Caved in road of Abul Fazal to be built after monthsOT, October 24, 2012 10:03 IST Okhla Times Reporter/AFE A road at the beginning of Shibli Road just in front of a police station in Abul Fazal Enclave (AFE) that had caved in a few months ago is to be constructed, according to Okhla MLA Asif Md Khan. The MLA inaugurated the work yesterday morning with some of his supporters. But this is not for the first time that such an inauguration has taken place of the spot. Local leader Amanatullah Khan said the MLA earlier also had turned up with his supporters promising the start of the work. “But till now nothing has happened. Let us see whether work will begin this time around.” The major road on the Hari Kothi stretch had caved in a few months ago and since then residents had difficulties travelling. The road was closed and a Delhi police barricade was placed in for months. Now it appears that things may change for good and once again residents will be able to use the road for commuting. Asif Md Khan told the gathering that as the road comes under UP irrigation department it was difficult for him to get the work started. “We have been trying for months to get work started but we couldn’t get permission from the UP irrigation department. Now things have been sorted out and work will begin soon.” Rs 10 lakh tender has been cleared for the project and work will begin a few days, the MLA claimed. Work for two lane road on the AFE-Kalindi Kunj road, announced a few months ago by the MLA, is yet to begin. And many residents wonder what has stopped the work to take off. Post a comment Top News
