During the municipal corporation of Delhi elections, many aspiring politicians came to our doorsteps promising developmental work. Ameeruddin whose wife Ishrat Beghum won the councilor election from the women reserved ward number 206, was also one of them. He had promised to get things fixed in our street (H and G blocks of Abul Fazal Enclave) and we believed in him.

The first thing he did was to lay the sewer line in our street before the election. We were thankful to him as water logging came to an end. The residents returned back the favour by voting his wife to power. In Ameeruddin we found a promising and people leader.

At that time Ameeruddin had assured residents that the incomplete work (the construction of the road) will be done once election was over. But three months have passed since and Ameeruddin and the newly-elected councilor have never come back.

The road has been lying in a deplorable state. Many residents don’t know what to do and where to go. Some people have tried to send a message to Ameeruddin that the street should be repaired to avoid further problems, but all in vain.

With the pre-monsoon rain on Friday and Saturday lashing the city, the whole stretch of road has become unused with mud and stones piling up everywhere. Residents are finding it extremely difficult to even walk on the street without dirtying their clothes. Driving too has become difficult.

Now residents have to deal with water logging. And there are fears that if the road is not build soon with the onset of monsoon, mosquito borne diseases will spread fast and create havoc.

Will Ameeruddin and his wife look into the matter and keep their promises?
