With mercury rising, fasting during Ramzan is no cakewalk this year. Moreover, due to summer devotees are fasting for long hours (15 hours) and hence many grown people are facing the heat. In such a situation there are many first timer small children who are fasting for long hours during this month voluntarily as children are exempted from keeping roza during Ramzan with fasting only compulsory for adults as per Quran.
Of them Insha Hashmi and Heba Fatima are two young children who too are fasting in this month. “They are small children and when fasting is full of hardship during summer, these two children have kept Roza. Insha is 6 years old and son of S Zafar Islam Hashmi and Heba is 7 years old and daughter of Syed Khurram Shahabuddin,” said Hashmi.
“Under intense heat, we are fasting and just see these children too have joined us,” he said.
They are not the only children who are fasting during this month. There many like them who are fasting during this month with their family members. Mosques in the locality are full with such children.
Besides, during Taraweeh too one can find these children visiting mosques with their parents. “They get excited and visit mosques with us. It is a good beginning. It is common to see that many children also fast with their parents. And with schools being closed because of summer, they are saved from the hardship,” said Javed Khan.
