The controversy on death of NDMC official MM Khan, who was gunned down in Johri Farm on May 16, is yet to die. It was understood that the arrest of a few men, including locals from Jamia Nagar, would close the story but not so as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today demanded the arrest of BJP MP from East Delhi Maheish Girri.
OKHLATIMES was the first portal to report this incident on that day.
It should be noted that Girri, along with his party members, is camping outside Kejriwal’s home since yesterday demanding his resignation for alleging his involvement in the murder of an MCD official. Also, BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy joined Girri in the morning outside Kejriwal’s home. Moreover, Girri has also demanded an open debate over the issue.
Kejriwal tweeted: “He shud be arrested n interrogated by Modi police in MM Khan murder case. Modi police shielding him.” PTI reported that Kejriwal alleged that four days before Khan’s murder, Girri had approached Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung with the hotel owner’s letter for “removal” of Khan from proceedings in a case pertaining to the licence violation.
“Do we’ve an open debate on murder cases? Is this BJP’s way to seek criminal justice? Is it BJP’s criminal justice system to allow those who have murdered to stage dharna outside his residence and thereafter, prominent leaders of BJP reach there to support them,” he said.
“If Del police were wid us, Mahesh Giri n Karan Singh Tanwar wud have been arrested and interrogated by now in MM Khan murder case. Let’s decide once and for all, who is dharna party of India? (sic),” Kejriwal tweeted.
Khan was given martyr status by the Delhi Government in a recent Assembly session where deceased family members were also present. Moreover, the Delhi Government had also announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of Khan. It is yet not known whether the compensation amount has been given to the family of not.
The murder incident in Okhla had grabbed headlines with the case being cracked in 24 hours with the arrest of the accused. Also, Kejriwal had visited Khan’s house in Johri Farm to meet the family. It was here that a former AAP activist was not allowed to meet the CM.
